1) Dissatisfied Customer
For a salon located in such a busy, high-end neighbourhood as Yorkville, I expected a skilled stylist. My stylist was very nice,
and the cut was nice, but after a "half head" of blonde highlights, I still had dark roots showing. Also I had emphasised I didn't want an ashy colour, and I came out with the same ashy blonde ends that she has herself. I tried again 3 months later, thinking a "full head" of highlights, plus lowlights, would fix the problem. She charged me $140 (after a 20% corporate discount) for cutting off one inch, an expensive toner treatment that she just started putting on my hair without asking me, and a the "whole head of highlights and lowlights" that left me with again with dark roots and blonde ends, to the point that my co-workers were surprised and confused when I said "I got my hair done". At first I didn't want to complain since she was a nice girl, but about a week later I went to speak to the manager, who flatly refused even a partial refund, saying that he is French so he is intitled to be rude, and that if I don't like it I can leave. He told me that what I was asking for was "like sitting down to a fabulous gourmet dinner and then asking for a refund". I held my ends to my roots to show him the contrast and asked "does this look like a fabulous dinner to you? Can you honestly tell me this was done right?" and he smiled sarcastically, and said "Well we don't do refunds, that is our policy.". I asked him if customer service was anywhere in his "policies" and he told me, again, that if I don't like it I can leave. In the meanwhile, 4 stylists were sitting around by the front desk, with clearly nothing better to do than look over at me and then turn to grin at eachother, like a customer's frustration is a fun piece of gossip they will no doubt laugh about as soon as I leave. Maybe some people in the beauty industry are catty because of how shallow it is, but really... they acted like making a customer happy is the most foreign concept, and even a basic "I'm sorry to hear that you were not satisfied" is completely beyond their grasp. Obviously they have been in business there for a long time, but I really don't know how or why.
